Catholic Charities SF operates a State Licensed Youth Center Maureen & Craig Sullivan Center, at the Mercy Housing building, located in SF-SOMA District, providing Out of School Programming for a maximum of 14 children daily.
The Out of School Time Teacher position will supervise and support children accessing their virtual classes and provide occasional planning and implementation of programmatic activities for children participating in the Youth Center, ages ranging from 5 to 12, daily.

•    Youth Center is open from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm daily.
•     Position schedule: Weekdays: 8am – 4:30pm/ 8hours-work. 


  • Facilitates and supports children accessing their Distance Learning Classes
  • Implements and plans as directed, age-appropriate curriculum for enrichment periods.
  • Setting up of supplies, educational materials, and program space for activity every day. 
  • Supervises groups of children during all enrichment activities such as Outdoor Recreation, Art Projects, etc..
  • Enforces all center PPE requirements and ensures that all aspects of the center’s functions meet The Department of Public Health’s regulations.
  • Sanitize and disinfect common use areas
  • Mediates conflicts between children, focusing on “accountable- talk.” 
  • Supervises children during free play to ensure a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.
  • Implements and supports Nutrition Program functions.
  • Distributes and stores Program equipment, laptops, iPad, food, and activity supplies.
  • Supervises groups of children, promoting safe behavior.
  • Participates in staff meetings, as directed.
  • Attends Training, as directed.
  • Prepares, plans, and implements indoor activities as alternatives for rainy days.
  • Responds to emergencies according to directives present on Program Emergency Plan.
  • Prepares and submits Incident Reports on an as-needed basis.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus Minimum 5 ECE Units/waiver to last with a Program-prescribed Training Plan, in place
  • College Degree plus applicable Training Plan.
  • Minimum of 3 years documented relevant experience plus Training Plan.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  •  Knowledge and understanding of Child Development-field and experience with class planning and implementation, as well as experience conducting observations of children and teaching staff.
  • Understanding of the needs of the working poor and marginalized communities of color.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.

TB Screening - Negative Tuberculosis Test: Required   

First Aid Certificate:  Required
